Surveying the world


Education needs to address real life in order that our young people can find meaning in what they experience throughout their school careers.

Surveying-the world beginning with the local a park, translating our sense perceptions into mathematical realities, giving a new form and language to this information by mapping out what has been surveyed, is one area of study which can address this need.

A wealth of learning and at just the right time. At 15/16 years of age the practical aspects of surveying rely on confidence, reliability, intelligence and will. At the same time, the need for accuracy in creating the eventual map is essential!

Working in groups the pupils must agree on achieve their goal of an accurate map. Through repeated error the ability to think abstractly and build mental pictures is fostered.
